Uniquely Asian – The One & Only L.K.Y. This body of work depicts a multifaceted, colourful and controversial character of founding father of Singapore – Mr Lee Kuan Yew. A powerful Asian icon that inspired me to present the theme – Uniquely Asian. The ground of this painting is made with many layers of acrylic paints and has carefully combed to create textures and raw effects to replicate his many years of struggles and devotion for the country. The intenstional splashes of colors and abstract paint strokes depict his wise vision in making Singapore a multi-racial and colorful garden state that he dreams. He has helped make Singapore not just a simple red dot but a hybridization and contemporary nation in a short period of time. Indeed, he is simply one and only/uniquely Asian in Asia that will never washed away one mind easily. May his legacy leave on forever just like a great painting.
